The Master of Environmental
Planning program aims to deepen and broaden the abilities of
students in the field of environmental planning on advanced level. A
sound knowledge of planning and/or environmental issues is a key
precondition for applying. Special emphasis is given to foster the
students’ capability to develop scientific-based solutions for
current and future environmental challenges in different working
contexts, such as academics, public administrations, environmental
NGOs, think tanks or planning offices.
The outstanding
expertise of our faculty with differing foci on environmental planning
- landscape planning, environmental assessment and
policy, geoinformation processing, landscape economics and governance,
nature conservation – allow students to engage in the
intellectual, policy, and practice aspects of environmental
planning.
Through an interdisciplinary
program of teaching and research, as well as varied
cooperation with public and private actors, we impart
the means and knowledge which qualify excellent environmental
planners.
We are able to provide a unique study environment
which benefits from the exceptional choice of higher education
institutions, the multitude of research and development facilities in
the region, and the fact that the city of Berlin is the political,
cultural, and academic hub of Germany.
The master program
addresses students who have gained sufficient knowledge in at least
three of the following fields during their bachelor's program:
- Environmental/ Landscape Planning
- Environmental Assessment (e.g. SEA, EIA, impact mitigation, and Habitats Regulation Assessment)
- Other Spatial Planning, such as Spatial, Urban and Regional Planning, Transport Planning, and Landscape Architecture
- Nature Conservation
- Ecology
